Looks like Helen forgot to take her meds again.

It’s a good thing this Senate bill will ultimately die a quick death in the House (hopefully).

The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment — even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents. “There was a felony they were committing, and now they can’t be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me,” said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill.

Kudos to Ensign, but the stupidity of his colleagues is breathtaking.

The Iranian parliament reportedly has passed a new law requiring the country’s Jews and Christians to wear colored badges to identify them as non-Muslims. There are other reports questioning the validity of the story. Still others are calling it a hoax. Allahpundit is providing the back and forth coverage. Nonetheless, seeing as how Ahmadinejad hasn’t minced words when conveying his feelings for Israel, it does make this news seem a little more interesting.

Here’s are some visual reminders for all the folks out there who think the U.S. should stay out of the way and let the United Nations deal with Iran, it’s nuclear ambitions, and its (future?) badge requirements.

How did this guy get elected?

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid called a proposal to make English the official language “racist” on the Senate floor yesterday.

“This amendment is racist. I think it’s directed basically to people who speak Spanish,” the Democrat said during the already tense debate over immigration reform.

Moments later, the Senate approved the measure on a 63-34 vote. Virtually all Republicans were joined by 11 Democrats to approve the largely symbolic amendment. Immediately following that vote, the Senate approved a second amendment, declaring on a 58-39 vote that English is the “common and unifying language.”

Such proposals enjoy overwhelming support among American voters.

That’s right – the American voters, the ones who elected Reid to power and the same ones who can force retirement on the Senator. He should be removed, for his own safety, as soon as possible.

How much support does the “English Only” issue have?

A poll by Zogby International earlier this year found that 84 percent of Americans say English should be the official language of government operations. The same poll found that 77 percent of Hispanics agree.

And it’s a bipartisan issue, according to the poll, which found that 92 percent of Republicans and 82 percent of Democrats approve making English the country’s official language.

So, what in the world could possess Reid to stand up and claim an English only amendment is racist? One can only wonder. Harry Reid, his partner in crime Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durbin and other wacko moonbats in Congress are so preconditioned to grab a microphone and vehemently denounce any proposed legislation that comes from a Republican’s mouth that they let words and thoughts escape without realizing just how idiotic they appear. It’s lunacy.

Congratulations to all the liberals out there – you’ve picked real winners to lead your party.

George W. Bush visited a border region in Arizona today and granted interviews to the MSM. In one interview with Fox News’ Carl Cameron, Bush said that the Mexican government has a “duty to enforce their side of the border”.

He’s right, and this sentiment should be echoed by other administration officials as well as Congress.

Things got a little testy after a Senate panel pushed ahead a constitutional ban on same-sax marriage.

“If you want to leave, good riddance,” Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter told Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Russell Feingold, who refused to participate because, he said, the meeting was not sufficiently open to the public.

“I’ve enjoyed your lecture too. See you later, Mr. Chairman,” Feingold told the Pennsylvania Republican before storming out.

Boo-hoo. Russ is obviously still protesting following his ‘No border fence’ vote made yesterday. What a weasel.

The rancor didn’t stop there.

Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy, the committee’s top Democrat, said the gay marriage ban was a waste of time for a committee that needs to tackle a wide range of other pressing issues, from judicial nominations to oversight of the National Security Administration’s domestic-spying program.

“I didn’t realize marriages were so threatened. Nor did my wife of 44 years,” Leahy said.

Leahy said Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, who supports the gay-marriage ban, has expressed support for polygamists in his home state of Utah. “I never said that,” Hatch responded.

“I know some (polygamists) that are very sincere. … Don’t accuse me of wanting to have polygamy.”

Heh.

If this keeps going, someone’s bound to bring up Sen. Byrd’s white sheet days.

The Representative from Michigan, John Conyers Jr. aligns himself with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and insists that Democrats would not immediately seek to impeach George W. Bush should they be voted into power this coming November. The funny thing is, Conyers has been one of the biggest advocates of impeachment in the House, so someone has obviously gotten to the man, convincing him to ‘cool the rhetoric’. John Hawkins looks at the matter and gives reasons why no one should trust Conyers, or any Democrat wearing sheep clothing, when it comes to impeachment denial.
