Moussaoui wants a new trial.

Zacarias Moussaoui said in an affadavit “I now see that it is possible that I can receive a fair trial” in the United States.

“Even with Americans as jurors,” he went on, “I can have the opportunity to prove that I did not have any knowledge of and was not a member of the plot to hijack planes and crash them into buildings on September 11, 2001.”

“I wish to withdraw my guilty plea and ask the court for a new trial to prove my innocence of the September 11 plot,” he said.

Sounds to me like Zacarias was voted most popular by the prison Nancy’s and wants to call an end to the midnight visitations.

Rhode Island Democrats are expected to endorse Representative Patrick Kennedy for re-election when they meet tonight in West Warwick.

Someone needs to put a few drops of this into Blaine’s globe.

 

Will this be the week that U.S. Representative Katherine Harris drops out of the race for Senate? Time is running out.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush made it clear today. He said, “I just don’t think she can win.” It’s hard to argue with that. Harris is 30 points behind her Democratic opponent, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.

Seeing as how Republicans can’t afford to lose seats in the Senate to any Democrat, most people are hoping that somehow, Harris can be convinced that she should get out, for the good of the party. So far, she’s not listening.

The number of late-night jokes about George W. Bush has more than doubled this year — with almost a third of them mocking his intelligence, followed by his declining popularity, his personality, the Dubai ports deal and the war in Iraq.

Bush announced today that he is nominating General Michael Hayden to lead the Central Intelligence Agency. The media has already lit a fuse on the debate. Their strategy is to make hay of comments offered by Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) yesterday. Hoekstra said of Hayden, “he’s the wrong man at the wrong place at the wrong time.” But does Hoekstra represent a Republican position on Hayden? AJ Strata doesn’t think so. And don’t think the Democrats are sitting on their hands. They wasted no time sharing their opinions on Hayden.

Unless something else happens, we can expect to hear a lot about Hayden’s nomination over the next 72 hours.
