“Do You Think You’re Dealing With a 4-Year-Old?”
Frankly, yes.
Ahmadinejad, defiant as ever, doesn’t want to play with anyone else’s ball on anyone else’s playground.
Iran’s president mocked a package of incentives to suspend uranium enrichment, saying Wednesday they were like giving up gold for chocolate — defiance that appeared certain to complicate U.S. efforts to curb Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
“Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him?” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asked derisively.
“They say they want to offer us incentives,” he said. “We tell them: keep the incentives as a gift for yourself. We have no hope of anything good from you.”
His defiance was met with shouts of, “We love you Ahmadinejad!” from the crowd.
Tell me, how do you negotiate with someone who doesn’t want to negotiate? You negotiate with a dozen strategically placed smart bombs aimed at knocking their infrastructure back into the stone age then quickly slap down any country that protests.
Will it come to this?
Only 370 miles?
A fence? Did someone say something about a border fence?
Via AP: The Senate voted to build 370 miles of triple-layered fencing along the Mexican border Wednesday and clashed over citizenship for millions of men and women who live in the United States illegally.
Amid increasingly emotional debate over election-year immigration legislation, senators voted 83-16 to add fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers along the southern border. It marked the first significant victory in two days for conservatives seeking to place their stamp on the contentious measure.
370 miles isn’t a lot when you consider the thousands of miles of border shared with Mexico. Sure, it’s 370 more miles than we would have otherwise, but I’m worried that this is nothing more than another Rhino compromise to ensure amnesty.
We’ll see.
Get Ready For More NSA Leaks
The backbone has officially evaporated.
The Bush administration will brief the full House and Senate Intelligence Committees in Congress on the National Security Agency’s controversial surveillance activities, reversing course after five months.
The sessions scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on Capitol Hill were to be led by the NSA’s director, Lt. Gen. Keith B. Alexander, and were sure to focus on the ultra-secret agency’s efforts to monitor domestic calls when one party is overseas and suspected of terrorism, as well as the agency’s efforts to collect records on ordinary Americans’ calls.
By bowing to increased political pressure, this White House would rather appease arrogant members of Congress than protect the secrecy behind classified programs this nation needs to conduct the war on terror. Are we really supposed to believe that members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees won’t use this information for political gain if need be?
Attention New York Times! Hey Los Angeles Times! You’ll soon have all the fodder you need to write hit pieces on the president. Your congressional lackeys will be fully informed and ready to leak by the weekend.
Immigration Myths, Misnomers and Red Herrings
John Hawkins of Right Wing News clears away some of the fog on immigration.
Your Rhinos at Work
The Senate rejects immigration legislation that would demand border-security methods be in place first before the creation of any guest-worker program.
Michelle Malkin has a list of the (ahem) Republicans who voted against the measure.
“I’ll Swim the River and Jump the Wall”
Would be illegal migrants flip the bird to Bush immigration proposals and blame it on “the decadence of the American empire.”
And to think these are the people Vicente Fox calls “patriots”. Heh.
Analyzing the Grist

Genuine
During the press gaggle today, Tony Snow was asked about a bracelet he wears. Hot Air has the video and it’s worth watching. The first part focuses on a sparring with Helen Thomas. The last few seconds of the clip contains Snow’s reaction to the bracelet question.
He’s a class act.
Unintended Casualties: PoliPundit Killed by Immigration Reform
Lorie Byrd has announced her departure from group blog PoliPundit after its anonymous leader (hereafter “Mr. PoliPundit”) imposed a new “agree with me or go” policy regarding immigration reform. Frankly, public blogosphere squabbles like this one are a huge waste of bandwidth, especially when so many other important subjects are on the table. Yet, no one can deny that various factions (groups, ghettos, families, etc.) occupy both the right and left sides of the blogosphere and eventually, public undressings occur over issues, big or small.
And like a multi-car pile up on the interstate, we strain our necks to gawk. It’s natural.
My best wishes go out to Lorie as she decides what lies ahead for her. I’ve always appreciated the links and words of encouragement she’s extended to me and this little blog. Thanks Lorie.
