Comedy is best left to those who can deliver. The best Steve Colbert got last night was a polite “golf clap”. Captain Ed wraps up the goings on at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where George W. Bush was the hit of the night.

I receive “Breaking News” email alerts from CNN. Moments ago, I received this one.
Rush Limbaugh arrested on prescription drug charges and released on bail, law enforcement officials in Florida, tell AP.
Now, doesn’t that sound like Rush was on a street corner in Florida with a dime bag in one hand and a wad of bills in the other? Well, that wasn’t it at all. They just felt like sensationalizing it. Here’s the real story.
Rush Limbaugh reached a settlement with prosecutors Friday in a fraud case involving prescription painkillers, though the conservative radio commentator maintains his innocence.
Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities about 4 p.m. on a warrant for fraud to conceal information to obtain a prescription, the first charge in the nearly 3-year-old case, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the state attorney. He was released an hour later on $3,000 bail.
Under the deal, Limbaugh would eventually see the charge dismissed in 18 months if he continues treatment for drug addiction, Black said.
Limbaugh also must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past 2 1/2 years, Black said.
Limbaugh entered a plea of not guilty in court Friday.
Drudge has Roy Black’s statement.
Those guys at CNN are a bunch of weasels.

That’s how many people died at the hands of terrorists in 2005.
Terrorists killed more than 14,500 people in 11,000 attacks across the globe last year, the U.S. State Department said in its annual report on terrorism.
Fifty-six of those killed were Americans, the report said. Three thousand of the deaths were attributable to 360 suicide bombings. There were 25,000 people wounded and 35,000 people kidnapped, the report said.
Have you let your guard down?
The al-Qaeda terrorist network remains a threat, with plans to attack the U.S. in a manner to match “or even surpass the terror of 9/11,” Henry Crumpton, the U.S. State Department’s anti-terrorism chief said.
Wake up people and get your priorities straight.
I don’t think it’s a matter of “if” but “when”. Yet, Democrats and wimpy Republicans are trying to drag Americans back to a pre-9/11 mindset by doing things like stripping the government of the tools they need to fight terrorism. Aided by the media, Americans are taking the bait. While we’re sitting around whining about gas prices and marching in the streets in favor of criminals who are in our country illegally, the terrorists continue to plan the next attack.

A Brit and a bunch of rappers decided it would be a great idea to record a Spanish language version of the U.S. National Anthem. I think it’s outrageous.
Some Internet bloggers and others are infuriated by the thought of “The Star-Spangled Banner” sung in a language other than English.
“Would the French accept people singing the La Marseillaise in English as a sign of French patriotism? Of course not,” said Mark Krikorian, head of the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank that supports tighter immigration controls.
Exactly.
And to rub our noses in it, a remix of the record is to be released in June which will contain several English lines that condemn U.S. immigration laws.
President Bush remarked today that he thinks our National Anthem should be sung in English, and only English.
“One of the things that’s very important is, when we debate this issue, that we not lose our national soul,” the president exclaimed. “One of the great things about America is that we’ve been able to take people from all walks of life bound as one nation under God. And that’s the challenge ahead of us.”
He’s right.
More. Here.

Opinion Research Corporation was commissioned by CNN to conduct a poll asking the following question.
“Who would make a better candidate, Hillary Clinton or Hillary Rodham Clinton?”
I’m not kidding…
James Joyner has more.

Well, that was interesting.
It seems that Hosting Matters, the web hosting company that houses PunditGuy along with a ton of other blogs, got hit with a Denial of Service attack today. From what I can tell, it started at 8:06 AM Pacific Time and ended at 9:32 AM.
So, we’re back up, for now.

The U.N. will do nothing, and Ahmadinejad knows it.
The leaders of Russia and Germany urged Iran to fulfill its international nuclear obligations Thursday, a day before a U.N. Security Council deadline for Iran to stop enriching uranium. Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed that no one could make Tehran give up its nuclear technology.
And in the same breath…
Russia and China on Thursday warned against escalating the dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme. The call came on the eve of an eagerly awaited report on whether the country has met United Nations demands.
A complete joke…that’s what this is.
And to think we can look forward to another decade of UN resolution after resolution containing empty threats and worthless reprimands for Iran. Oooh…scarrrry!
UPDATE: Just as I thought.

Arlen strikes again.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter said Thursday he is considering legislation to cut off funding for the Bush administration’s secret domestic wiretapping program until he gets satisfactory answers about it from the White House. “Institutionally, the presidency is walking all over Congress at the moment,” Specter, R-Pa., told the panel.
Great, just great. Thanks Arlen.
Who needs Democrats when we’ve got someone like Specter acting as the dictator-in-chief governing the judiciary committee. God, help us.

I’m actually surprised it lasted this long.
Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio network’s original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.
Forget about intentions, hopes and dreams. If it ain’t makin’ money, it needs to go away. If New York falls, all the other affiliates will fall too.
Blame the hosts.
