John Kerry has rewound the tape and is now repeating the same cheesy phrases he used in his failed 2004 presidential campaign. This time, he even has the guts to bring up religion.

A Roman Catholic who has struggled at times to talk about his own faith, Mr. Kerry also told the group that he believed “deeply in my faith” and that the Koran, the Torah, the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles had influenced a social conscience that he exercised in politics.

“I will tell you, nowhere in there, nowhere, not in one page, not in one phrase uttered and reported by the Lord Jesus Christ, can you find anything that suggests that there is a virtue in cutting children from Medicaid and taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich,” Mr. Kerry said.

A spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, which skewered Mr. Kerry’s speeches relentlessly during 2004, responded with a verbal shrug yesterday.

“John Kerry deserves credit for continuing to take himself so seriously, despite the fact that no one else does,” said the spokeswoman, Tracey Schmitt.

Do the Democrats seriously believe it is in their best interest to trot out John and Tare-aye-sah once more in 2008? If so, the outcome is sure. Republicans will win.

Known Leftist Seymour Hersh writes in today’s New Yorker that the Bush Administration is conducting covert, behind-the-scenes exercises aimed at fine tuning a strategy to attack Iran. As usual, his goal is to set off as many alarms as possible while peppering his paragraphs with the typical liberal word play. No need to read the thing though. I can digest it for you right here.

1. Bush is trying to pull an “Iraq” again.

2. He must be stopped.

3. Iran isn’t evil. George W. Bush is.

For most liberals, it’s really that simple. Pre-emptive planning in case we have to go to war with yet another crazed dictator is mean, hurtful, and wrong. Pacifism is where it’s at. But if you have to get tough, you go to the U.N. Period.

The U.S. must do everything in its power to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. If we sit this one out and let the U.N., the French, the Germans and Russians deal with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Israel is doomed, radical islamism will once again start its ugly spread, and the U.S. will be the target of constant terrorist attacks.

This is why I’ll support President Bush if he decides that Ahmadinejad must go.
