Hillary was none too pleased to find out that her husband Bill had an advisory role in the Dubai ports deal, so to prevent future embarrassment, he’s been put on notice. He won’t be allowed to do or’say anything without her approval.

So I’m wondering, what’s changed?

After being surprised by her husband’s role in the Dubai ports deal, Sen. Hillary Clinton has insisted that Bill Clinton give her “final say” over what he says and does, well-placed sources said.

The former President agreed to give his wife a veto to avoid his habit of making controversial headlines that could hurt her chances of returning to the White House, multiple sources told the Daily News.

“He knows it’s Hillary’s time now,” said an adviser close to both Clintons who expects to play a key role in her likely 2008 presidential campaign.

Hillary Clinton’s handlers are keeping a close rein on the former President’s schedule to try to prevent another embarrassing screwup like their competing roles in the Dubai ports deal.

While she was blasting the Bush administration for allowing Dubai to run six of the country’s ports, he was advising Dubai on how to sell the deal.

“Hillary has final say,” said the adviser, and the ex-President’s staff has been warned not to do or say anything without running it by the senator’s handlers.

“That was true in the White House during the [2000] Senate campaign,” recalled another longtime aide who stayed close to the ex-President after he left office. “If he said the sky was blue and she said the sky was purple, then the sky was purple.”

“When I say jump, you’re gonna say how high!”

Wow, what amazing role models. It’s hard to believe that these people are actually married.

Stupid enough to question the events of September 11th, 2001. Try this on for size:

Sheen described his immediate skepticism regarding the official reason for the collapse of the twin towers and building 7 on the day of 9/11.

“I was up early and we were gonna do a pre-shoot on Spin City, the show I used to do, I was watching the news and the north tower was burning. I saw the south tower hit live, that famous wide shot where it disappears behind the building and then we see the tremendous fireball.”

“There was a feeling, it just didn’t look like any commercial jetliner I’ve flown on any time in my life and then when the buildings came down later on that day I said to my brother ‘call me insane, but did it sorta look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition’?”

And he goes on and on and on.

This is serious tin foil hat stuff. Sheen, a former drug and alcohol abuser, is obviously hitting the sauce again. What’s next Charlie? Holocaust denial?

He should be ashamed of himself for pushing this crap. It’s disgusting.

Sinn Fein leader Gary Adams is complaining about being on a US “watch list” and believes that what contributed to a delay he experienced this week while traveling in the country. I don’t think the list had anything to do with it.

Adams and his longtime aide, Richard McAuley, were delayed Friday from traveling to Buffalo, N.Y., for a meeting just hours after both Sinn Fein officials were guests of President Bush in the White House for St. Patrick’s Day. They missed the flight — and still were missing two suitcases when they returned Monday to Ireland.

“This is a nonsensical position we’ve found ourselves in, and we’re determined for it to stop,” McAuley said in a telephone interview from a car carrying him and Adams back to Belfast. “In one moment we’re in the White House and Gerry is having his photo taken with the president, … then a few hours later at the airport, you’re being pulled aside for this rigorous, ridiculous special screening.”

Adams is’experiencing something every US traveler is confronted with – long security lines, impromptu “screenings” and lost luggage.

Ahmadinejad must have been unhappy with the amount of space he’s occupied in the US media this past week. He’s decided to start this week off with another proclamation of solidarity toward an atomic program for Iran. I don’t understand why we don’t just call this guy out. His intentions are so obvious.

His mother and father didn’t love him enough and he’s begging for attention. Mere attention isn’t enough though. He also wants power so he can stick it to all those people who never gave him the attention he craves. He believes having his own nuke would satisfy his needs and desires. And because of that twisted belief, he’s a complete wacko and must be taken out. Period.

You see? He’s just your garden variety lunatic dictator. Unfortunately, we don’t have an efficient enough policy regarding garden variety lunatic dictators, so we send government representatives out into the world to give speeches containing big grown-up like words which describe how much we don’t like garden variety lunatic dictators and as such, they must be taken out.

Meanwhile, the days and weeks and months go by.

 

It seems as if I hear or read something about bird flu every day. The virus has either killed another 30,000 birds in one country, appeared for the first time in another country, or is knocking on the door of this country. Just today, the news is that bird flu will appear in the US before the year is out. On NPR this morning (yeah, it’s moonbat radio) I heard a report about how important it is for every American household to stock up on emergency supplies, and be prepared with a 2 month supply. Really? While there has always been a ‘disaster readiness’ community in the US, I’d doubt that 2% of Americans are sitting around worrying about when bird flu will hit their neighborhood.

The fact is, we’re about as worried about bird flu as we are about the next terrorist attack on US soil, and therein lies the real problem. The epidemic of complacency. You got it. I got it. We all got it. Eventually, something will shake it. Will that something be bird flu? Will it be nukes from Iran? Will it be the bombing of a high rise building?

But in the meantime, who’s gonna get kicked off American Idol this week?

I’m tired of US politics, or at least, commenting on Republican verses MSM endorsed Democrat politics. I think this has been coming on for some time, but today, it’s hit a nerve. After reviewing the menu here and here, I shook my head at the prospect of writing anything remotely profitable. I dunno, maybe things will get interesting again around August or so, right about the time the mid-term campaigns rev-up to decent RPMs. Until then though, the daily onslaught of MSM stories on Iraq, Bush’s approval rating, the no plan Democrats and the big spending no plan Republicans has left me completely brain dead.

I’m going to find other things to blog about…until the ship is righted.

My wife got home safe, so that means the Blog gets some attention again. Hope you had a good weekend.

The Secretary of Defense writes in the WaPo today:

Though there are those who will never be convinced that the cause in Iraq is worth the costs, anyone looking realistically at the world today — at the terrorist threat we face — can come to only one conclusion: Now is the time for resolve, not retreat.

Consider that if we retreat now, there is every reason to believe Saddamists and terrorists will fill the vacuum — and the free world might not have the will to face them again. Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis. It would be as great a disgrace as if we had asked the liberated nations of Eastern Europe to return to Soviet domination because it was too hard or too tough or we didn’t have the patience to work with them as they built free countries.

Great word pictures if you believe that securing the peace in Iraq is equivalent to any of the historic conflicts of the past. I do, and the secretary’s message today is a great reminder that history will be the judge of all that is happening in Iraq today. Decades into the future, we’ll recognize the importance and significance of democratic change in Iraq.

Doing lots of stuff with my boys today. And if you’re wondering, we haven’t burned the house down…yet.
