Ray Nagin doesn’t know when to quit.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is playing the race card in his bid for re-election, reminding black audiences that his white opponents “don’t look like us.”

Appearing Saturday before the NAACP’s Family & Technology Center in Houston, Nagin noted that 23 candidates had entered the mayoral fray before the registration deadline last week.

“Very few of them look like us,” he told the audience of about 200, whom the Houston Chronicle described as “almost totally black.”

Nagin was in Houston to encourage displaced Katrina evacuees to cast their absentee ballots for him.

Some refugees, however, made it clear they still harbor resentments for the way he botched evacuation efforts.

“You waited until it was too late. The mandatory evacuation was too late and there were people who drowned,” said evacuee Eugene Jefferson, who the Chronicle described as “emotional and tearful.”

“Now you want us to vote for you?” Jefferson huffed.

For the good of New Orleans, let’s hope the people of that great city know how to quit Ray Nagin.

So, was she arrested for protesting or for belly trespassing?

 

In case you can’t recognize it, these are words spoken by a true leader.

“In the history of the world, the true test of a civilization is how well people treat the most vulnerable and most helpless in their society. The sponsors and supporters of this bill believe that abortion is wrong because unborn children are the most vulnerable and most helpless persons in our society. I agree with them.”

South Dakota Governor, Mike Rounds, after signing legislation banning nearly all abortions in his state. He expects the law to be tied up in court for years and will not take effect unless the US Supreme Court upholds it.

Hillary claims that criticism directed toward her could be the result of being a Democratic woman.

“When you run as a Democrat, and in particular, when you run as a Democratic woman, whether you’re running at the local, state or national level, it’s likely you’re going to draw some unfriendly fire,” Clinton said at a breakfast fundraiser hosted by black and Hispanic women supporters. “People will be attacking you instead of your ideas, they may impugn your patriotism, they may even say you’re angry.”

So now we can expect to hear this excuse every time someone says something negative against Hillary. What a cop out. Let’s hope the media doesn’t buy it.

While John Kerry is off jet setting across the world in Tear-aye-saah’s jet, burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel, he’s lecturing other nations on how baaaad the ‘ol United States is.

The United States must rebuild the power of the United Nations and help “end the empire of oil” if it wants to win the “war on terror,” U.S. Sen. John Kerry said Sunday. The Massachusetts Democrat avoided explicit criticisms of the Bush administration during a wide-ranging speech on the global dynamics of terror. But he said Bush’s policy of imposing democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan risked looking like a crusade.

And just which one of your half dozen SUV’s do you plan to destroy John, in the name of ending the empire of oil?
