Feb. 5 Won’t Be Emancipation Day
There will be no clear nominee for either party after Super Tuesday.
Don’t look to crown any presidential nominees on Super Tuesday. The race for delegates is so close in both parties that it is mathematically impossible for any candidate to lock up the nomination on Feb. 5, according to an Associated Press analysis of the states in play that day.
“A lot of people were predicting that this presidential election on both sides was going to be this massive sprint that ended on Feb. 5,” said Jenny Backus, a Democratic consultant who is not affiliated with any candidate. Now it’s looking as if the primaries after Super Tuesday – including such big, delegate-rich states as Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania – could grow in importance.
“Maybe some states were better off waiting,” said Backus.
That doesn’t mean Super Tuesday won’t be super after all. Voters in more than 20 states will go to the polls on the biggest day of the primary campaign, and thousands of delegates will be at stake.
But it’s possible Feb. 5 might not even produce clear front-runners.
Oh boy, that means we’ll still have to deal with John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, and Mike (Jimmah Cawtah) Huckabee after the 5th. This is gonna be one long protracted primary cycle. Wake me when it’s over.

And Now For Something Completely Different
I got an Apple TV for my birthday. It arrived last night. I love it. Here’s why:
— Installation took less than 5 minutes. I plugged the device into my Phillips 37″ LCD HDTV using the HDMI connection. For audio to my Denon 1801 AVR, I used an optical toslink cable. Apple TV found my wireless network immediately. After inputting my WEP password, I was connected.
— I paired Apple TV with an iMac located at the opposite end of my house. It’s furthest away from the device, but the streaming quality from my iTunes library was excellent. In no time at all I was watching movies and TV shows purchased from iTunes. Even the standard definition picture quality was great.
— I subscribed to a few of the free HD video podcasts offered from iTunes, and the picture quality was awesome. And there’s tons of these things, providing free content.
— And of course, there’s YouTube. I’ve often wished I could sit in my living room and browse YouTube and view video on my flat screen TV. Now, with Apple TV, I can.
I’m not an Apple employee, and I’m not a crazed fanboy. I’m a technology enthusiast and gadget freak. And let me tell you…this gadget is worth gettin’ freaky over.

Bill Clinton Running for President
“My fellow Americans, I am sick and tired of not being president,” said Clinton, introducing his wife at a “Hillary ’08” rally. “For seven agonizing years, I have sat idly by as others experienced the joys of campaigning, debating, and interacting with the people of this great nation, and I simply cannot take it anymore. I have to be president again. I have to.”
“Damn, this feels good,” Clinton told supporters as he shook hands in Charleston Monday.
He continued, “It is with a great sense of relief that I say to all of you today, ‘Screw it. I’m in.'”

Fred’s Gone
Fred Thompson will drop out of the race for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.
Fred Thompson plans to drop his presidential bid, FOX News learned Tuesday.
Thompson has begun calling friends, family members and supporters to tell them his campaign is over. He left Nashville Tuesday afternoon for McLean, Va., where he is expected to make an announcement about his campaign as early as Tuesday night.
The former Tennessee senator and actor has not won any early primary or caucus contests and finished third in the South Carolina primary Saturday.

“Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort,” Thompson said in a statement.
Thompson’s fate was sealed last Saturday in the South Carolina primary, when he finished third in a state that he had said he needed to win.
In the statement, Thompson did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals. He was one of a handful of members of Congress who supported Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2000 in his unsuccessful race against George W. Bush for the party nomination.
