When confronted on why he opposed Bush’s tax cuts, John McCain said it was because they didn’t come with spending cuts. Umm, okaaaay.
That’s not what he said in 2001, when his reason was because he thought the tax cuts favored the wealthy over the middle class.
And that’s not what he said in 2003, when he reasoned that there should be no cuts until the Iraq war costs were known.
I’ve got news for Mr. Mac. He’s enjoying a little honeymoon of sorts with his media buddies right now, what with the endorsements and a few nice poll numbers. But Johnny’s gonna watch all those smiles turn to rabid foaming clinch teethed growls once the actual campaign starts. All these flip floppin’ politically expedient explanations will come to light, you can be sure, and Captain McQueeg will be caught with his pants down wondering what happened to the love.

The NY Post endorses Barack Obama and asks…
“Does America really want to go through all that again?”
All that, of course, being Bill and Hillary Clinton. They go on.
Democrats in 22 states across America go to the polls next Tuesday to pick between two presidential prospects: Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
We urge them to choose Obama – an untried candidate, to be sure, but preferable to the junior senator from New York.
Obama represents a fresh start.
His opponent, and her husband, stand for déjà vu all over again – a return to the opportunistic, scandal-scarred, morally muddled years of the almost infinitely self-indulgent Clinton co-presidency.
Doh!
I’m not voting for Obama, primarily because I’d practically almost never ever ever vote for a Liberal Democrat. But this kind of thing makes me want to at least root for him a little in the primaries. Heck, I’d root for anyone who could keep the nomination away from Billary.
So, three cheers for the New York Post.

If momma’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy.
Barbra Streisand is reportedly furious that stepson Josh Brolin is to play the lead role in a forthcoming biopic of US President George W. Bush. The National Enquirer claims that the singer, a staunch Democrat supporter, pleaded with Brolin not to appear in the Oliver Stone-directed film. A source said: “Barbra thinks this movie will show a side to George W. Bush that draws sympathy from the public and she does not think Bush deserves anything positive.
Uh, wait a minute. Isn’t this an Oliver Stone film? Babs is acting as if Oliver is Rush Limbaugh! I don’t think she has anything to worry about, given Stone’s political leanings. Still, this story once again illuminates the wackiness of the moonbat left. Even Oliver Stone is a threat.

John Edwards joined Rudy Giuliani and gave up the fight today.
Democrat John Edwards is exiting the presidential race Wednesday, ending a scrappy underdog bid in which he steered his rivals toward progressive ideals while grappling with family hardship that roused voters’ sympathies, The Associated Press has learned.
The two-time White House candidate notified a close circle of senior advisers that he planned to make the announcement at a 1 p.m. EST event in New Orleans that had been billed as a speech on poverty, according to two aides. The decision came after Edwards lost the four states to hold nominating contests so far to rivals who stole the spotlight from the beginning — Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.
The former North Carolina senator will not immediately endorse either candidate in what is now a two-person race for the Democratic nomination, said one adviser, who spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of the announcement. Clinton said Edwards called her Wednesday night to inform her about his decision.
There’s one reality in campaigning. It’s all about the money, and if you’re spending your own, you better have a ton of it. If you’re dependent upon contributors, they’ll tell you if you’re winning or not. John Edwards’ supporters told him they were done.

We’re stuck with McCain?
And what about Rudy? Man, talk about a lame campaign. Not that I intended to vote for the man, but sheesh – who told the guy that he should stay out of every race until Florida, anyhow? And why was Rudy so stupid to go along with that plan? Oh well.
And what’s this? Rudy is going to endorse McCain? As soon as tomorrow? Good Lord.
We’re gonna lose this election. The media is lining up behind Obama, and the narrative is being written: the death of the GOP; the end of Reaganism; the giant sucking sound which was conservatism.
Wake me when it’s over.

This is really an amazing editorial from New Hampshire.
COURTING VOTERS in Iowa and New Hampshire, last August Sen. Hillary Clinton signed a pledge not to “campaign or participate” in the Michigan or Florida Democratic primaries. She participated in both primaries and is campaigning in Florida. Which proves, again, that Hillary Clinton is a liar.
Clinton kept her name on the Michigan ballot when others removed theirs, she campaigned this past weekend in Florida, and she is pushing to seat Michigan and Florida delegates at the Democratic National Convention. The party stripped those states of delegates as punishment for moving up their primary dates.
“I will try to persuade my delegates to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida,” Clinton said last week, after the New Hampshire primaries and Iowa caucuses were safely over.
Clinton coldly and knowingly lied to New Hampshire and Iowa. Her promise was not a vague statement. It was a signed pledge with a clear and unequivocal meaning.
She signed it thinking that keeping the other candidates out of Michigan and Florida was to her advantage, but knowing she would break it if that proved beneficial later on. It did, and she did.
New Hampshire voters, you were played for suckers.
But will this stop the Clinton machine from ruthlessly fighting and ignoring/breaking/changing the rules as the game is played? Nope. This is further proof that Hillary will stop at nothing to win.

Bad dog!
Bill Clinton appears to be trying to stay positive as he campaigns for his wife in New Jersey.
The former president has been accused of injecting race and negativity into Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign. Today, he didn’t mention Barack Obama or the divisiveness that has taken hold of the race.
He told a room crammed with 1,500 people his spouse would strengthen the nation’s middle class. And he touched on topics including health care and energy independence.
So, Bill Clinton has been spayed, for the moment. Yet we all know he can’t help himself. It’ll just take one reporter to ask him a question about Obama and he’ll be off on a tear once more.
He’s great entertainment.

Now this is interesting.
The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Connecticut’s Democratic Presidential Primary shows the race couldn’t possibly get any closer. New York Senator Hillary Clinton attracts 40% of the vote and so does Illinois Senator Barack Obama.
Wasn’t the Northeast suppose to be made impenetrable by anyone challenging Hillary Clinton?

All signs point to a Giuliani withdrawal from the race for the GOP presidential nomination. He says he’ll decide on Wednesday.
