As has been widely reported through the blogosphere and the MSM, a gunman jumped on stage last night in Ohio during a performance of the band Damageplan. He then shot and killed Darrell Abbott, better known as Dimebag Darrell, an original guitarist with the band Pantera. Tonight, the 911 telephone calls were released. I don’t know about you, but it’s one thing to read about a tragic story and it’s another thing to hear the panic of the moment. These calls capture some of that panic.

Pawned handbells find their way to EBay, and the perps are caught.

A handbell hobbyist in Texas helped crack the case of the stolen church chimes, leading police to a trio of young men suspected of pawning about $20,000 worth of the gleaming bronze instruments. Six of eight cases of Schulmerich handbells and Malmark hand chimes stolen from Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood, Washington were sold by local pawnshops through eBay to buyers as far away as Pennsylvania for a combined $4,129.

School in Oklahoma pulls out the song “Silent Night” and a nativity scene from a children’s holiday program for fear of offending someone.

This is a great idea – not necessarily for someone like me, who travels 4 or 5 times a year, but for the person who travels a lot, and reads a lot.

Here’s a literary twist for frequent fliers: Buy the latest Stephen King novel in your local airport, read it on the plane, then sell it back for half price at the end of the flight
