Mary Ann Loves Mary Jane

Dawn Wells, the actress who played ‘Mary Ann’ on the classic TV show Gilligan’s Island was busted recently for reckless driving. She was put on probation. She had a good lawyer, because the real reason she was busted was she had a couple of half smoked J’s and a stash o’ ganja. Seems Mary Ann has a thing for weed.

Must have been all those years trapped on that island followed by the ensuing depression brought on by the constant ogling of Ginger by the Professor, the Skipper, Gilligan and Mr. Howell. It’s the green of jealousy that lead her toward the green of the earth.

Spitzer Story All About the Use (and Misuse of) Technology

The story about New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is heavily focused on the prostitution angle, yet the real reason he got busted was due to his unknowing involvement in a money laundering investigation. Larry Dignan writes an interesting story on the information system that brought down Spitzer and the proprietors of the prostitution ring. The network has been in place for sometime, yet its importance escalated following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Obama Wins Mississippi (Yawn)

No surprises here.

Barack Obama coasted to victory in Mississippi’s Democratic primary Tuesday, latest in a string of racially polarized presidential contests across the Deep South and a final tune-up before next month’s high-stakes race with Hillary Rodham Clinton in Pennsylvania.

The cable tv news coverage tonight is almost comic. The same talking heads are debating the same topics they debated last weekend, and the week before. Obama is the front runner. Clinton has almost no chance of taking him in the delegate count. She won’t quit. There’s six long weeks until Pennsylvania…

Boring.

The real story is how the Democratic party is tearing itself apart. History will judge this election cycle as the cannibalization moment. Future pundits will talk of how the Democrats ate their own and didn’t even realize it until it was too late.

The convention in Denver will make Chicago in ’68 look like a tupperware party.
