For the life of me, I don’t understand why the country goes crazy over the debut of a television news anchor.

I couldn’t care less about Katie Couric, or the network that employs her.

The Pakistanis, our (ahem) ally, wimp out, give up, and stop hunting for Bin Laden. All he has to do is live a “peaceful life”.

Welcome to the Grand Appeasement, come on in and see what’s happ-nin, pay the price get your tickets for the show.

Osama bin Laden, America’s most wanted man, will not face capture in Pakistan if he agrees to lead a “peaceful life,” Pakistani officials tell ABC News.

The surprising announcement comes as Pakistani army officials announced they were pulling their troops out of the North Waziristan region as part of a “peace deal” with the Taliban.

If he is in Pakistan, bin Laden “would not be taken into custody,” Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan told ABC News in a telephone interview, “as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen.”

And that’s not all.

In addition to the pullout of Pakistani troops, the “peace agreement” between Pakistan and the Taliban also provides for the Pakistani army to return captured Taliban weapons and prisoners.

Nice.

Somehow, this just doesn’t add up. I agree with AJStrata:

It could mean Pakistan is giving up the hunt and we are losing an ally thanks to all the surrender talk from the left. Or, it could also mean Pakistan is gaining political cover for some future ‘event’.

Whatever it might mean, Bush needs to get Musharraf on the horn and get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

This is the most concise explanation of our mission in Iraq that I’ve ever read. The letter from Bush Chief of Staff Josh Bolten to Senator Harry Reid would be better addressed to the entire Democratic Party, and published in every major newspaper in the country.

I’m back after spending the better part of last week on the beach with my family. We had a great time, there was plenty of sunshine, and lots of sand. Everywhere. But mostly in the minivan. In fact, I must have vacuumed up twenty pounds of the stuff yesterday.

Oh, and another thing. I shaved my head.

Really.

No protest or anything moonbat-ish like that. Just one of those ‘spur of the moment’ things. In my case, I was walking down the street of the sleepy beach town we visited when all of a sudden I said (out loud) “We gotta find a barber shop”. I had been in need of a haircut for quite awhile anyway, so this wasn’t all that strange. Yet, when we found the barber and I sat in the chair, he asked the question…“What are we doing today?” My wife said, “give him a buzz”. And that was it. 5 minutes later, it was gone.

Yeah, it feels weird, and it’s taken time to get used to, but hey, what-eh-vah. It’s only hair. (As I write this, I’m about to go back to work, where I’m sure to witness the double-take and subsequent bounty of comments. It’s no different than elementary school.)

Along with the new coiffeur comes new ideas for this blog. Lots of changes in store, none to mention at the moment, but if you hang out here regularly, you’ll notice. If not, then you won’t. I’ll just be that guy that went away for a Labor Day holiday and shaved his head.
