I don’t know how credible this is. If it is more than just a threat, I can’t help but think that it will backfire. Two weeks before an election, excommunicating Kerry would not be seen as an issue of the church. It would be viewed and widely reported as a partisan political move. I would think that the Catholic church would want to avoid further media scrutiny.

Off topic for a moment – I live in Washington State. It rains here. In some areas of the state, it rains a lot. Yet, one of our local television stations feels the need to post this helpful news item.

I’m probably late to the party, but I just came across this today. And they claim to be independents. Heh.

The nations largest police labor organization is demanding that Kerry stop making misleading statements regarding his support from the law enforcement community.

In a nutshell:

The only compelling argument for endorsing Kerry is to punish Bush for Iraq. But why should Kerry be rewarded? He voted to hand Bush a blank check for war. Though he calls Iraq a “colossal” error, “the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he has said he would—even had he known Saddam had no role in 9/11 and no WMD—vote the same way today. This is the Richard Perle position.

Assuredly, a president who plunged us into an unnecessary and ruinous war must be held accountable. And if Bush loses, Iraq will have been his undoing. But a vote for Kerry is more than just a vote to punish Bush. It is a vote to punish America.

Why is Bush campaigning in New Jersey today? Isn’t that a state that is “suppose” to go to John Kerry, or any Democrat running for president? I continue to think that this election isn’t as close as the daily tracking polls report. Kerry is campaigning in states that should be solidly democratic, while Bush is campaigning in states that aren’t traditional winners for a republican presidential candidate. Could this be the beginning of a landslide election? Don’t look to the media to report this kind of tracking. Look at the campaigns themselves. Kerry’s campaign knows something about which states are working and which aren’t. Watch how they spend their money, where they buy their ads. The same goes for the GOP. If, two weeks before the election, Bush is spending time and money in New Jersey, you know that the state is in play. If Kerry is pulling money out of Missouri, you know what they know. Keeping track of how the campaign money flows is always the best indicator of where the battle is being waged and won.
