One month later, we now know that many of the news reports which came out in the hours and days after Katrina made landfall were either greatly embellished or blatantly false. I think we’ll only see more of this kind of thing in the future. The urgency of the 24/7 cycle makes it practically impossible to accurately report news as it happens.
Still, it’s a pity that so many stories turned out to be nothing more than ugly rumors.
