Is it Really a Vacation?

August 13, 2005 by PunditGuy Leave a Comment

CNN’s “Question of the Hour” asks:

‘Is President Bush taking too much time off…or not enough?’

Does anyone really believe that a U.S. president’s vacation is a real vacation?

When you take time off from work you don’t think about work right? You don’t bring your secretary with you right? You don’t bring your staff with you right? You don’t get regular security briefings every morning right?

The president does, and more.

The president is the president 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He doesn’t get any time off. It doesn’t matter if he’s in DC, Crawford, Kennebunkport, or Anytown USA.

The whole debate is silly.
