WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) A judge has upheld Washington’s 2004 gubernatorial election, rejecting Republicans’ petition to nullify the 129-vote victory of Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire.

Judge Bridges: Overturning election would have meant “judicial egotism”

“An election such as this should not be overturned because one judge picks a number and applies a proportional deduction analysis,” Bridges said. “To do so within the context of the facts of this case would constitute the ultimate act of judicial egotism and judicial activism.”

    How surprising to see big news in my hometown (Wenatchee). I went to school with Judge Bridges’ daughter, I think. He’s right, you know. It’s not a judge’s place to do fancy mathin’ with our elections. At all.
