New tests reveal the level of dioxin in the blood of Ukrainian presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko is more than 6,000 times higher than normal, according to the expert analyzing the samples.
The concentration, about 100,000 units per gram of blood fat, is the second highest ever recorded in human history, said Abraham Brouwer, professor of environmental toxicology at the Free University in Amsterdam, where blood samples taken last weekend in Vienna were sent for analysis.

Dick Morris praises the blogosphere and the role it played in the recent election.
“Mass communication” usually denotes the few speaking to the many through the journalistic and electronic media that they control. Now it must be redefined as the masses communicating and imposing their views on the elites, often over the furious objections of their former masters.
The defeat of the networks in the war of CBS versus the bloggers is one of the most dramatic illustrations of this new political dynamic. All of Dan Rather’s men could not put over a forgery of Bush’s National Guard record on America’s bloggers, who eventually forced the CBS anchor from his perch atop our politics.

OK, so I’m a bit cynical on this topic nowadays, but I won’t be holding my breath for this.
A CBS News insider tells Inside the Beltway “four or five” of the network’s employees face dismissal as CBS prepares to release a “critical” internal investigative report on the use of fake documents in a pre-election story challenging President Bush’s Vietnam-era service in the Texas Air National Guard.
Overheard in a cold, dark CBS board room – “Let’s see now, we need to get rid of the extra guy in the employee cafeteria. It’ll be easy. He doesn’t wash regularly. Oh, and that gopher courier guy is getting ready to go to college, so he can be let go. Let’s see, that’s two…we got three more to go.”
Meanwhile, we’re STILL waiting for the report.
Well, actually it was a guy wearing an Osama Bin Laden mask.
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Osama bin Laden take note: You wouldn’t be safe in Costa Rica. A startled taxi driver shot and wounded a jokester wearing a plastic mask of the al-Qaida leader, police said Tuesday.
Leonel Arias, 47, told police he was playing a practical joke by donning the Bin Laden mask, toting his pellet rifle and jumping out to scare drivers on a narrow street in his hometown, Carrizal de Alajuela, about 20 miles north of San Jose.
Arias had startled several drivers that way on Monday afternoon. But when he jumped out in front of taxi driver Juan Pablo Sandoval, the motorist reached for a gun and shot him twice in the stomach. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
“For me and I think for anybody else at a time like that one thinks the worst and so I fired my gun,” Sandoval told Channel 7 television.
Police declined to detain Sandoval, saying he had believed he was acting in self-defense.
