Snowing at the EU

Cocaine traces have been found at the European Parliament.

The Sat-1 channel sent reporters to take 46 swabs from toilets and other public areas of the Brussels buildings. Nearly all tested positive for cocaine.

A European Parliament spokeswoman said cocaine abuse was not a problem among staff working at the buildings.

A professor who analysed the samples said the amounts found were too great to have been carried in on clothing.

“It simply reflects the fact that cocaine was brought in there,” Professor Fritz Sorgel of the Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research in Nuremberg (IBMP) told the BBC News website.

“The amount was too high and found in too many spots. It shows it was brought in deliberately.”

Wow, that’s a newsflash. Traces of cocaine, a highly addictive drug, easily available, found in a location inhabited by a lot of people every day of the year.

I think it’d be fun to do the same tests at Buckingham Palace, The White House, The Vatican, The Kremlin, Zhongnanhai, and The Kaaba. I bet you’d find similar traces of coke and a variety of other substances.

On Wilson and Rove

Wilson is a political hack for the Democrats. The Left hates Karl Rove and would do ANYTHING to publicly crucify the man. They hate Bush, and they will do anything…anything at all to bring him down. Wilson is their flavor of the week and that is the reason for the feeding frenzy amongst the MSM.

New players, same story.

And you know what? I don’t care. It’s politics and the screaming throughout the media is all very boring.

Root Out the Extremists

It’s Prince Charles doing his best impression of Dirty Harry…

Prince Charles has urged “every true Muslim” to root out extremist preachers in the wake of the London bomb attacks.

An “evil influence” appeared to have been brought to bear on the suspected bombers, whose “atrocities” must be condemned, he told the Daily Mirror.

“Some may think this cause is Islam. It is anything but. It is a perversion of traditional Islam,” Prince Charles said.

“Those who claim to have murdered in the name of Islam have no care for the lives they have so brutally destroyed.

“Offended by the good relations between faiths and cultures, the extremists seek to break up the communities that make up our modern, multi-cultural society,” the prince wrote.

Can it be that the prince of wales actually has a muscle he can flex? I doubt it. It’s action, not words, that count.

The Cone of Silence

I have no business blogging right now, seeing as how I’ve been in a virtual ‘news free zone’. I’m busy with the day job, and I’m in Denver attending a conference. From the early AM til the late PM, I’m away from TV, Internet (gulp) and various other news media.

I’m out of the loop.

So, I’m not going to fight it. Sometimes, blogging just doesn’t fit in with real life. I’ve come to accept that now.

I’ll be back in gear by Thursday.

Later.

Online

I’m in Denver for the next day or so. I had some trouble getting online at my hotel. WiFi – when a hotel knows what they’re doing, it’s great. When they don’t have a clue (which is most of the time), it can be a configuration nightmare. So it was with me, but after a couple of hours of work, I’ve finally gotten a strong enough signal to get me on the net.

Internet = Oxygen

Phew.

The Web: Anger, Sadness, Comfort, and Community

Via CNet: In times of tragedy, people have increasingly turned to the Web to share witness accounts, offer support, voice opinion, and debate issues. The London bombings were no exception this week, as people from across the globe logged on to the Web to vent, comfort and seek community.
