Child Abuse

Why would a person encourage their child to look like this, or worse yet, like this?

Unadulterated male feminization. God help us.

White House Wedding Bells

Just off the wires…

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) – One of the president’s daughters is getting married.

President Bush and first lady Laura Bush announced Thursday that their daughter, Jenna, is engaged to Henry Hager of Virginia.

No wedding date has been set, said Mrs. Bush’s press secretary, Sally McDonough.

Jenna, one of the president’s twin daughters, became engaged to Hager, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Va., on Wednesday.

You think Mr. Hager has an FBI file yet?

Clinging to Hope

A simple noise gives rescuers renewed hope.

Rescuers searching for six trapped coal miners got two pieces of hopeful news — images of an intact chamber with potentially breathable air and the sound of mysterious vibrations in the mountain.

Officials were studying the results of air quality samples taken from a third borehole, and were expected to release their findings Thursday, 10 days after the cave-in.

Video images from the same shaft showed an undamaged section complete with a ventilation curtain that divides intake air from exhaust air. Behind the curtain, in theory, the men might have found refuge and breathable air.

You’ve got to admire the never-give-up attitude of those who are involved in this process. 10 days without food or water is a long time, but miracles do happen.

450, and Rising

Peru fell victim to a big time earthquake overnight, now valued at 8.0 on the Richter scale.

Rescuers struggled across a shattered countryside on Thursday to reach victims of a magnitude-8.0 earthquake that killed at least 355 people. More than 1,500 people were reported injured and the Red Cross said the toll was expected to rise.

Blame the aging infrastructure. And even though the U.S. is a lot younger of a country than Peru, we’ve got our problems too. I don’t think I need to mention our ‘bridge problem’. One quick hard jolt in Seattle and we could easily see casualties like those in Peru.

Phew

For the last few days I’ve battled with an upgrade from Movable Type 3.3 to the new 4.0 version. Needless to say, it didn’t go so well, or at least I thought, and for a moment in time I feared that all of PunditGuy would be lost. But, the gods looked approvingly upon my database and all was saved.

Yesssssss.

So, now, back to blogging.
